While we were down in San Francisco, we managed to meet up with the very talented Sam Hart (AKA: blinktwice4y).

One Saturday afternoon we put Caitlin Bell and Sam Hart together in a hotel room and out came two amazing acoustic covers: “The One That Got Away”, and “Baby It’s Cold Outside”.

I was lucky enough to film them.

And we’re all lucky enough to enjoy them.

Pick two gross food items, put them into a Blendtec blender. Blend it. Then I’ll drink it. You choose the items.

As part of our pledge for P4A 2011 (Project for Awesome), everyone at ApprenticeA agreed that if we reached our goal of raising $2000 for youth homelessness, we would all blend and drink gross things.

We reached that goal pretty quickly.

A cardboard set was constructed to look like a full kitchen. A kitchen made of 2D pieces of cardboard, however painted to look like they were 3D, and arranged in 3D space inside the kitchen. So it was a 2D 3D, 3D kitchen set; if that makes any sense at all.

All 10 people from ApprenticeA choose a different set of 6 items to blend together.

That’s a lot of videos.

Each person has the following videos:

• 1 – An intro video where you can choose your person
• 2 – Video were you see all the items and can choose your first one. One video describing the items, then a faster welcome back video.
• 6 – A menu video after you choose your first item, and get to choose your second item
• 15 – Different combinations of blends, since you can’t blend an item with itself.
• 1 – A secret video where all 6 items are blended together

So at 25 videos a person, and having 10 people, that leaves us at a massive interactive video spanning 250 videos!

To my knowledge, this is the largest interactive video to ever reach YouTube.

The making of the CTFxC wedding video took two full days. The first day was filming the entire event, and the second day was editing it.

The filming day went a little something like this:

It was very hot and humid down there in Florida, and we all got very little sleep. Brian stayed up for 62 hours straight to get the final wedding video done.

Even though we were all so tired, the final video was more than worth it. Charles and Alli loved it, and Alli cried the entire time watching it.

After a month in production, the grandest adventure-interactive video on YouTube launched on Halloween, 2011: Jim Vaylin’s Halloween Adventure.

Jim Vaylin and I co-produced this amazing adventure series where Jimmy has to travel through Dark Woods and interact with many comical characters in order to save his wife from the spirit realm.

It was hilarious to film. Here’s why:

I’ve done a lot of planning recently.

I have a great advantage. When you start something new, you always get the chance to do it better, right from the beginning.

I’ve started a couple YouTube channels before and worked on a lot of others. After 4 years of posting videos on YouTube I’ve seen a lot of things which work and a lot of things which don’t. One of the things which I’ve come to understand is that having structure is very beneficial.

Not just structure such as having a posting schedule, but having structure in your appearance. People start to recognize you and your videos through different means; your branding. For example, some people recognize a person’s video through their stylized thumbnails.

When a user looks at a list of videos, two things which stand out to them the most are a) the thumbnail and b) the title.

So I’ve decided that I’ll have a structure for the titles of my videos. And I think (I hope) that this structure will last.

All of my videos will be titled: “CORRADO COIA – insert title here”.

This way when a person sees a list of videos, whether they are in a search result or in a related video list, they will see “CORRADO COIA” prefixing all the video titles and will easily be able to identify that those videos are my videos.

It’s true, they could just look to see who posted the video, but then they would have to ‘look for it’, it won’t just be ‘there’. Especially since the first things the person would see are the thumbnail and the title of the video.

Therefore, I’ve renamed my video from “In Case of Trouble, Take This!” to simply, “CORRADO COIA – Ten Bullets”.

I’m working on the upcoming video currently titled, “Incase of Trouble, Take This”. The main portion is edited down to what the final result should be, complete with colour correction.
