The Buffer Film Festival – Celebration of the YouTube Community
BUFFER Film Festival (renamed to Buffer Festival) will be an annual, internationally accessible digital film festival to help launch, promote, and advance videomakers in the online videomaking community. Ran by myself, Corey Vidal, and ApprenticeA.
The BUFFER Film Festival will provide an online venue for videomakers to showcase their videos in a Canadian-based, internationally-recognized film festival. BUFFER aims to inspire digital content creators to produce more videos, while providing them with exposure and recognition.
BUFFER will provide applicants with a list of criteria to include in their short film. Participants will have 2 weeks to create and submit their entries, at which time the festival will close to submissions. Applicants submit by uploading their video to YouTube, and submitting the URL to
http://www.bufferfilmfest.com (http://bufferfestival.com). Applicants retain all ownership and rights to their content. http://www.bufferfilmfest.com (http://bufferfestival.com) will serve as the central venue, allowing audiences and videomakers to view and vote on their favourite videos in different categories.
Best Comedy Short Video
Best Action/VFX Short Video
Best Drama/Romance Short Video
Best Horror Short Video
Best Canadian Short Video
Videos in each category will be reviewed by a judging panel of top YouTuber Partners/personalities. A combination of judge selection and audience voting determine the nominees and winners in each category.
The BUFFER Film Festival is tentatively scheduled to launch in early 2013.
